ANDREA GUSTAFSON, LCSW

Andrea is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Brainspotting Therapist. Her private practice is located in Altoona, WI where she offers integrative psychotherapy and Brainspotting services. She is also a Certified Brainspotting Consultant where she assists other helping professionals in their process of becoming certified in Brainspotting and provides ongoing support after certification.

Andrea received her Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in 1993. She was also a Licensed Massage Therapist having graduated from the Masters Massage Practitioner Program at Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (Tempe, AZ) in 2005 with a specialty in Craniosacral Therapy. Her continuing education has included advanced coursework in evidence-based methods of treatment including Brainspotting, trauma-based therapies, family and relational betrayal/abuse, and mind-body modalities including Somato-Emotional Release. She also continues expanding her knowledge of Jungian theory, existentialism, and consciousness studies to help clients uncover personal insight, and embody their own authentic path..

Her counseling experience involves work with children, adolescents, and adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings with a variety of concerns such as complex trauma/PTSD, sexual & narcissistic abuse, anxiety-panic disorders, substance abuse, chronic depression & other emotional pain, adolescents at risk, and complications from chronic illness and/or medications.

Andrea’s passion is in helping clients rediscover their inner resources and strengths and, in time, move beyond suffering to thriving. Her approach is integrative and trauma-informed that draws from relational, somatic and scientific methods of treatment. She has learned in her experience both personally and professionally that when accessing the natural reparative capacities of our neurophysiology, while in the context of a nurturing and attuned relationship with another, healing and transformation can occur on all levels.
